Xbox confirms the downgraded Game Pass subscription and the new mission call is no longer on XGP.

Xbox has confirmed a downward adjustment in the price of its top-level Game Pass subscription service, while no new launch of Mission Call is included in the subscription service. The new CEO of the Microsoft game, Asha Sharma, said in his internal meeting that the subscription service was “too expensive for the player”.

In a blog post by Xbox Wire, Xbox states that Game Pass Ultimate will decrease from $29.99 to $22.99 per month, while PC Game Pass will decrease from $16.49 to $13.99 per month. The company indicated that the new Mission Call game would be added to the “Next holiday season (about a year later)” in Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and that the existing Mission Call game would remain in the library. This reduction did not fully reverse the 50 per cent increase in the prices imposed by Xbox in October 2025, which had previously been at $19.99 for mainframe services and $11.99 for the PC end. Xbox Wire says: “Our players are all over the world, with different tastes and preferences, and therefore, while there is no single model for all, this change responds to the great amount of feedback we now receive. We will continue to listen and learn.”

This change means that mission callers will be able to earn a year ‘ s membership of Game Pass Ultimate and a game at a relatively small cost, which will save $72 per year, but the savings will be almost offset by the game price of $69.99. Microsoft added Mission Call to Game Pass in 2024 and stated that Mission Call: Black Action 6 created a subscription record for the service. Black Action 7 in 2025 was underperforming, with analysts suggesting that its sales were significantly lower than those of the former, with the backlash flat; Microsoft indicated that it would cease to publish the successive versions of Black Action and Modern War.

Xbox ‘ s latest financial report shows a 5 per cent decrease in content and service income over the same period, mainly due to poor performance of the first party. At the same time, hardware revenues decreased by 32 per cent over the same period. In its message to employees, Sharma stated that the company would “develop Game Pass into a more flexible system, which would take time to test and learn”. Game Pass became the core function of the Xbox operation under the leadership of the outgoing Xbox leader, Phil Spencer, but is now widely regarded as underperforming – The company stopped reporting on the number of subscribers in 2022 and was repeatedly criticized and questioned by various parties in the industry.

It is known that the Mission Call series is receiving special attention from Microsoft, particularly when Xbox purchased the SOS at a total cost of $75.4 billion in 2022.
